Superhydrophillip Filter Paper for Effective Oil Recovery from Oil Contaminated Wastewater

Superhydrophillip Filter Paper for Effective Oil Recovery from Oil Contaminated Wastewater

Goals

Our goal is to develop a low-cost environmental-friendly membrane system for separating oil from water, and remediating the environmental incidents. Students will not only benefit from the interdisciplinary knowledge accumulated during the project, but also from a better understanding how science is practiced in the real world.

Issues Involved or Addressed

Catastrophic oil pollution caused by offshore oil spills and shipping poses a severe threat to the marine environment and aquatic ecosystem. Based on unique interfacial properties, our superhydrophilic membrane would provide an attractive alternative to mitigate pollution from oil contaminated wastewater.
