Ryan Hurey is a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft with over 24 years of extensive experience in software development and engineering. As part of the AI Platform team, he designs and develops client SDKs and developer experiences for Azure Cognitive Services and Azure OpenAI. With expertise in various programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, and Python, Ryan has successfully worked across platforms on desktop, mobile, and hosted middle-tier scenarios.

 

Before focusing on AI, Ryan contributed to various Microsoft projects and teams, including Windows Core Engineering, Hyper-V, and Microsoft Business Solution CRM. He has led engineering efficiency working groups, implemented scalable build artifact caches for Windows build systems, and designed distributed systems to simulate private clouds at scale.

 

Ryan holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Purdue University. As a student, he was part of one of the first experiential learning teams led by the founder of Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP), a program that has since evolved into a global initiative. Ryan's experience and expertise align with the VIP Consortium's mission to advance diversity, inclusion, and social equity in the realm of higher education, particularly in the areas of AI and software development.
