Charles Kim
Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering and
Computer Science, CEA
Howard University
Dr. Charles Kim is a professor in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Howard University. . Dr. Kim earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He has experienced in preemptive detection of power cable fault location applying inverse difference equation approach along with least-squares estimation method. This research led to publications and several patents. His other research interest is entropy and Bayesian inference as an intelligent and machine reasoning system to time-series data for diagnostic detection, classification, and pattern discovery. He has applied the machine reasoning to deal with electronic component assessment for radiation impact and sensitivity during his summer research at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He has experienced in teaching and training students in senior capstone design courses, which led him to join the VIP framework and, since 2015, he has led the VIP at Howard program as the director. His emphasis in VIP at Howard is to engage industry to VIP projects so that the students gain practical experience while industry sponsors gain access to the pool of students as prospects of summer interns or full time employees.
