Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is a public Doctoral University located in Richmond, VA. VCU occupies approximately 150 acres in downtown Richmond and enrolls undergraduate, graduate, and first professional students. VCU consists of 13 schools and one college offering 62 Bachelor’s, 72 master’s, and 41 doctoral degree programs. The VCU Medical College of Virginia Campus houses one of the nation’s top ranked Medical Schools and Schools of Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Health Professionals. It is also the location of the VCU Medical Center which is one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation. The Monroe Park Campus house the Schools of Engineering, Education, Business, Life Sciences, and the College of Humanities and Sciences, among others. VCU is ranked as “Highest Research Activity” in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

About the VIP Program

<p>The VIP@VCU program was started in 2014 with one team comprised of 12 students. The VIP@VCU program has a dedicated program director supported by the School of Engineering. Current VIP teams consist of students from all 5 majors in the School of Engineering as well as students from the School of the Arts, and the Schools of Medicine and Nursing. The VIP@VCU program is the first program to work with the lead institution to incorporate the VIP software tools into their program. VIP@VCU is also one of the first universities in the VIP program to participate in the Consortium&rsquo;s evaluation program. In addition, the VIP@VCU program is experimenting with the process of providing each one of its teams with a publicly-viewable external web site to facilitate advertizing the team and its activities to prospective new students, prospective student employers, and prospective external sponsors.</p>
