Patient-Centered Monitoring with Contemporaneous Risk Index for Surgery Site Infection (CRISSI)

Patient-Centered Monitoring with Contemporaneous Risk Index for Surgery Site Infection (CRISSI)

Goals

1. To prototype an iOS App that is capable of obtaining, analyzing, and reporting patient’s status and assess the risk. 2. To understand and develop intelligent algorithms for a commercializable mHealth App to accomplish our goal.

Issues Involved or Addressed

Continuous increase in healthcare costs has been an urgent issue globally. Especially for those who need to undergo surgery, medical cost places a huge burden before and after having surgery. Our grand challenge will contribute to this issue by developing patient-centered remote health monitoring for patients after surgery. With the developed mobile Health (mHealth) App, patients can monitor their recovering progress after surgery for and by themselves with diverse embedded mobile sensors and wearable devices if needed.
