The Institution

The University of Delaware exists to cultivate learning, develop knowledge and foster the free exchange of ideas. State-assisted yet privately governed, the University has a strong tradition of distinguished scholarship, research, teaching and service that is grounded in a commitment to increasing and disseminating scientific, humanistic and social knowledge for the benefit of the larger society. Tracing its origins to 1743 and chartered by the state in 1833, the University of Delaware today is a land-grant, sea-grant and space-grant university.

The Program

The Vertically Integrated Projects program aims to revolutionize undergraduate education. We put together long-lasting multi-disciplinary teams of students to work on cutting-edge research. The teams are each centered around the work of current faculty which act as leaders and mentors to their team. University of Delaware is planning on hosting an annual VIP results day every spring which is open to any other consortium member. Teams that can attend can demo their results for the year to other institutions, corporate partners, and participate in judged contests. We are also developing “drop-in” tools that should allow every consortium member to have deep customizable analytics in their peer-evaluations without the need for CAS integration.
